Breaking out the fleet - the Porsche, the Lambretta & the Huffy
The price of gas is insane right now. I was going to stop off on my way home from dinner and fill up. I expected it to be high but the price of gas has gone up $1 a gallon in just a couple days. It’s ridiculous & instead of stopping I just drove by and decided I would drive the Porsche tomorrow. With all the leaps and bounds our society has made over the last 30 years you would think that a 1999 Toyota would get far better gas mileage than a 1968 Porsche. But…sadly, you would be wrong. For those of you who are “in the know” as far as the engine modifications in the Porsche, yes the gas mileage stayed pretty much the same.
So tomorrows errands will be made in my little tangerine chariot. I love that car, since I don’t drive it all that often it’s even more of a joy when I do. One of those errands will be to stop off at the bicycle shop to pick up the little screw thingys that hold the front tire of my bicycle on (I still can’t figure out where they went). Oh, and a basket too.
Once my bicycle is back on the road, I’m going to ride it to the scooter shop. Because the Lambretta is going back on the road!!! If I remember correctly, she gets about 75 miles per gallon if not more. AND the Lambretta is 45 years old! I busted the valve stem on the front tire when I tried to use one of those cheapy auto toolkit air pumps. What a bummer. I think she’s gonna need a once over by a mechanic. But I should be able to ride her there.
