So we humans agreed that the dogs where not allowed on the couch... Sweet Linus always behaves (as far as we know). Elvis on the other hand doesn't agree. But how can we resist this?

Look at that sad little face, he wants to stay there so bad! He's all burrowed in and comfy. I did make him get down...but I had to get these photos first...hee hee

Finally Friends

Linus asked me to add that he usually doesn't look quite that sausage-like, it's a bad angle.

Elvis brought friends...

So it seems the rescue doesn't use Frontline or any other flea protection... How can 10 lbs of cuteness have so many fleas! They don't seem to be bothering Linus (we use Frontline on him) but they are making me crazy. I only have a couple bites but I saw one on me earlier and now I feel like they are all over me. Yet another reason Linus is the greatest dog on earth...he has never attracted fleas. Oh well, things have been going remarkably well otherwise. Elvis & Linus are getting along great. As long as Elvis has a toy to chew on he leaves other things alone. Dinner time is pretty funny. For two nights now, Elvis only eats a little bit of his food then waits for Linus to finish. Linus usually leaves a few pieces of the dry food. To Elvis these few pieces appear to be the best food on earth. He waits for Linus to leave the room then he runs in there and eats them up. He's a brave little guy! He certainly isn't afraid of Linus anymore.

Linus & Elvis - Day 2

Things are going really well. Linus & Elvis are now hanging out together. I won't call them friends just yet, they are more like two guys sitting at the bar drinking beer & chatting. Not really friends...just bar buddies. Elvis loves his new bed & seems to like chewing on clothing too. We really need to keep an eye on what is at his level. Considering the top of his head is only 9" off the ground we don't have too much to worry about. He is showing sock stealing tendencies too. But that's really not to bad, we need new socks anyway.

ELVIS!!!!

This is Elvis, our new dog! He is so sweet, such a gentle little guy. He's a bit scared of Linus. Linus isn't sure what to make of him and is ignoring him for the most part. They do like to look at each other from a distance so I'm sure they will be friends in no time at all.

And here is Elvis & his new dad

Linus is in puppy denial

Again, I am shocked and amazed. This evening we went to meet a dachshund puppy. It was only 8 weeks old, absolutely adorable! Linus came along but he stayed outside at first. We tried to introduce the puppy to Sir Linus but he denied it's very existance. He wouldn't look at it or get anywhere near it. It's not that he didn't see it, he did...but quickly looked away. It was really funny. If Linus could get his little paws up to his ears he would have closed his eyes and started singing loudly to block out all thoughts and images of the poor puppy. We still think Elvis or Minnie is the best choice. The dachshund rescue will be here on Saturday to inspect our home so unless Linus completely flips out & scares them off we should have a new doggie this weekend. How does Linus feel about this? The picture says it all.... But he just doesn't know what he's missing, he will come around to the idea. I know he will. : )

I don't give him enough credit

Sweet Linus, such a good boy he is. This evening we went to meet Georgia, a pretty mini dachshund who will need a home soon. Linus did so well with Georgia! I am very proud of him. He actually walked right up to her! Very un-Linus-like! She snapped at him but not in a serious way. They continued to wander around looking at each other, a couple growls, a couple snaps, but nothing like what I expected. I was afraid Linus would be mean to Georgia & a general nervous wreck. I should have had more faith in Sir Linus, he is a very good dog! We liked Georgia but after talking it over we decided either Elvis or Minnie would be a better choice.

Such a good boy! And as of today, still an only child

Angering Ugg lovers the world over!

I can’t help that this post is chock full of smug-ness. I very rarely wear shirts that say anything, let alone, something “controversial”. And in this case I am using the word controversial very loosely. A few weeks ago I bought a shirt that says NOT COOL with a picture of an Ugg boot next to it. It should be in my blog archive somewhere around mid-June if you want to see it. I hate those boots, I hate how they are worn with dumb little flippy skirts on girls or shorty short shorts on guys. Blech! It creeps me out, so much that I think there must be something hidden in my subconscious. Hmmm, maybe Tom Cruise & his scientologist friends could “Clear” me of that but I prefer to just hate Uggs & leave it at that. Where was I? Oh yeah, I am wearing my Ugg hater shirt yesterday but I hadn’t thought about it since I put it on. I am in a fabric store at the cutting table when the lady behind the counter begins her rant. She tells me how she loves her Uggs & wears them all the time…blah blah blah. Then she asks me what I have against them (she looks really angry…so I’m trying not to laugh) I told her that I think they are silly especially when paired with a flippy mini skirt. I was a little shocked that the customer service at this store includes getting called out about my shirt but at the same time it was really funny. She has now stopped cutting my fabric but has begun giving me the history of Uggs. How they were invented in Australia for surfers and have the amazing power to keep your feet warm in the winter and cool in the summer, blah blah blah… She finally finishes and gets back to cutting my fabric. I tell her, that’s great but I still think they are lame. At this point I was a little afraid to continue the conversation because she was obviously really protective of her silly boots. So I just stood there. She then says very curtly “So what are you making with this fabric?” The lady standing next to her who has been totally silent through all of this snickers and says “Uggs”. I couldn’t keep my mouth shut any longer and burst out laughing. This happened right before lunchtime, I’m only guessing but I bet she spent her lunch break coming up with snarky remarks & new ways to tell me off should that event ever happen again. Hee hee, me and my Ugg hater shirt may need to go back.

It has been a busy weekend. I should be helping Don paint the “Man Room” & the attached bathroom. But… despite the fact that I primed the entire room & most of the bathroom on Friday he still got annoyed at me for getting paint on a pipe that comes out of the wall UNDER/BEHIND the sink. Honestly you can’t even see it. I figured it would be easy to pick off later but he’s working on his own for now. After all, I’ve got a blog to update & curtains to hem.
So anyway, Friday night we went to see Songbird at the Ken Club. It was their very first show and they rocked! They had great energy & sounded terrific. At one point the crowd was even chanting the lead singers name. I’m looking forward to their next gig. Definitely check them out if you have the chance. I tried to get some photos but they aren’t very good.

Saturday we drove about 300 miles to see a dachshund rescue. We completely fell in love with two mini dachshunds – Elvis & Minnie. We can only take one though so the rescue people are going to bring them both down in two weeks to see which one is a better fit. Elvis has the same coloring as Linus and he’s so mellow. Minnie is teeny tiny & so sweet. It’s going to be a tough choice. Although, we are also going to look at another doxie that needs a home today or tomorrow. So it’s all still up in the air. I know Linus is going to be upset at first (being an only child for 7 years now) but he really does need a playmate.
