There is something about the underside of this 1970s Barbie GMC Eleganza II Motorhome that Elvis can't get enough of. I can't figure it out.

Why is there a 1970s Barbie GMC Eleganza II Motorhome in my studio? Don't ask...

Has anyone seen my Barbie?

Linus News

More news about the handsome Sir Linus. He’s doing much better now. Well, as long as he stops licking his wound. I’ve been putting off getting him a funnel collar because I think he would take it as an insult. We have compromised on a tee shirt. The vet said either will do. The tumor was tested & we got the results back. It has a long gross name, something with a necroptic center…. But the good news is that it isn’t the type to spread. It is the type that can reoccur but it has a low chance of that. We just need to keep an eye on that spot. Yay Linus!

Good vibes for Linus

Linus is having a bad day. He had surgery to remove a mass that turned out to be a tumor. Now he has a huge bald spot, a 5 inch suture & 2 drains. I really wasn’t expecting all of that. It was quite shocking when I picked him up. His left side looks like something out of a zombie movie. Poor sad Linus, he’s looking so pitiful. Luckily I have lots of painkillers for him so I’m going to keep him as blissed out as possible. We are waiting to hear if that is all the surgery he needs. The tumor is being tested. Argh… Please send some good vibes toward sweet Sir Linus. He needs them.

Honeymoon Part 1 Matangi Island

Alrighty, I still don't have digital images from our disposable camera but I wanted to share some photos of Matangi Island. I think the honeymoon blogging may turn out to be a 4 part series.

We landed on Nadi at about 6 am & hung around the airport for a while. The airport had really good lattes anwd pastries called Lamingtons that where basically gigantic raspberry zingers. Then we got on a little plane that held about 12 passengers, it was really fun because there wasn’t a cockpit door so we could see straight down the runway as we landed. Here is a photo of a coral reef from the plane. We thought it looked like a bunny.

Here is the airport on Taveuni -

From the airport we took a car across Taveuni to this beach

From here we took a boat to Matangi Island

We were greeted with coconut drinks and moist towels and told “welcome home”. Kay showed us around and explained the food schedule. Basically when we hear the drums it’s time to eat. So we ditched our wallets, watches, phones & keys because they are all completely unnecessary on Matangi.

Here is our tree house, it has a wrap-around balcony, separate living room, and an outdoor shower. It looks a lot lower to the ground than it actually is in this photo. It was heaven.

There are three tree houses & 10 bures on the island, this is a bure.

And here is a photo of Don, look how relaxed he is.

Here is me up in the tree house

Matangi has lots of interesting animals. Here is a sea crab

And here is a land crab, this guy was huge! His body alone was about 6” across.

(Look away Nancy)
These frogs come out at night. These guys are very docile so we had to make sure to remember to bring a flashlight to dinner. They don’t move when someone walks by. There were a few frog fatalities by other guests who forgot there flashlights. Splat…

There are carved statues with torches lighting the pathways on Matangi, this guy reminded us of Beavis. Heh heh eh heh… Thankfully there wasn’t one that looked like Butthead.

Here is one of dogs on the island. All the dogs are very well behaved and friendly. I met this one on the beach while Don was getting a massage from Auntie Jemima. (If you make it to Matangi get the “Jemima Special” massage, it gets 5 out of 5 stars)

Back to the dog. This sweet girl and I hung out in a hammock for a while, then we shared some of the cookies that are left at our tree house everyday. After that we went snorkeling. Seriously, these dogs will follow you out into the water. Another one followed me & Don out the next day. Luckily they know when to turn around and go back to the beach.

Here is our outdoor shower. Someday I want an outdoor shower. It rocked.

This is a shot from our front door.

Here is Don & someone’s dinner

Next I will put together some photos of our day at the private beach & our trip to the local village. Hopefully I can post them in a couple days.

Sir Linus - Dog Hero

Linus just blows my mind. He really is the coolest dog to ever exist. About 2 weeks ago we walked Linus & Elvis to our favorite coffee shop for breakfast. A couple walks by & the guy says “Look at the expression on that dogs face, it looks like he’s thinking about quantum physics” so I said “it’s quite possible that he is.” He looks smart but can he back it up? You betcha! Linus & Elvis stayed at my parents house for a few days while Don & I were in Las Vegas. One of my mom’s dogs has diabetes and is now blind. Linus has taken on the roll of guide dog for the blind dog! When Calvin gets disoriented and starts to cry Linus will go get him and guide him back to my mom! It’s freakin amazing! I’m so proud of him, he may have his issues but he is one smart dog!

"I know what you are thinking and I can't say I approve..."
